Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and Nooklet (“Nooklet”, “we”), the operator of nooklets.com. By creating an account or using Nooklet, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

1. Who can use Nooklet

You must be at least 13 years old, or older where your country sets a higher minimum age for consenting to online services (for example, up to 16 in parts of the EU). By using Nooklet you confirm you meet this requirement.

2. Your account

One account per person, registered with accurate information. You're responsible for what happens on your account and for keeping your password secure. Don't impersonate anyone or register a username to squat or mislead; we may reclaim usernames used that way. If you think your account has been compromised, email support@nooklets.com.

3. Your content

You own the reviews, ratings, comments, lists and other content you post. So that Nooklet can work, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt (for formatting and display), publish and distribute that content within the service, including in feeds, on item pages, in search, and in recommendation and discovery features. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except where it has been reshared by others (a repost of a deleted review disappears with it) or where we must keep a copy for legal or moderation reasons.

You're responsible for what you post and confirm you have the right to post it. Reviews are opinions; make clear they're yours.

4. What's public

Nooklet is a social platform. Your profile, reviews, comments and public lists are visible to anyone, including visitors without an account, and may appear in search engines once the site is indexed. Private lists are visible only to you. Your email address is never shown publicly.

5. Acceptable use

Don't use Nooklet to:

  • post content that is unlawful, hateful, harassing, threatening, or sexually exploitative of minors;
  • impersonate any person, or misrepresent your affiliation with anyone;
  • spam, including repetitive posting, engagement manipulation, and unsolicited promotion;
  • infringe anyone's intellectual property or privacy;
  • probe, disrupt, overload or attempt to bypass the service's security or usage limits, or access it with automated tools (scraping, bulk account creation) without our written permission;
  • evade a ban or restriction we've applied.

We may remove content, restrict features, and suspend or terminate accounts that break these rules or the law. Where practical we'll tell you what happened and why; you can reply to support@nooklets.com if you think we got it wrong.

6. Reporting and moderation

Members can report reviews, comments and lists. Reports go to our moderation queue; acting on one may mean removing content, banning an account from signing in, or deleting an account and its content. Filing deliberately false reports is itself a misuse of the service.

7. Third-party content about items

Titles, descriptions, artwork and other metadata about movies, TV shows, games, albums, songs, episodes and books come from third-party sources:

  • TMDB. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
  • IGDB, a service of Twitch Interactive.
  • MusicBrainz and the Cover Art Archive.
  • Google Books.

That data and all related names, artwork and trademarks belong to their respective owners; Nooklet claims no ownership of it and isn't affiliated with or endorsed by these sources. We don't guarantee metadata is accurate or complete, and we may update or remove items when sources change or rights holders ask us to.

8. Copyright complaints

If you believe content on Nooklet infringes your copyright, email support@nooklets.com with the location of the content, what it infringes, proof you own or represent the rights, and your contact details. We'll remove infringing content and may terminate repeat infringers' accounts.

9. Ending your use

You can delete your account any time from settings. That permanently removes your profile and content (see the Privacy Policy for the small print on backups and legal retention). We may suspend or terminate your access if you break these terms or the law, and we may discontinue the service, with reasonable notice where we can give it.

10. Disclaimers

Nooklet is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We don't guarantee the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, that content (including reviews and item metadata) is accurate, or that anything stays available. Reviews are the opinions of their authors, not ours.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies rights or guarantees you have under law that cannot be excluded, including consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law.

11. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, Nooklet isn't liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of data, or loss of profits arising from your use of the service, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of AUD $50 and the amount you've paid us for the service in the 12 months before the claim (Nooklet is currently free, so AUD $50). This limit doesn't apply to liability that can't be limited by law.

12. Changes

We may update these terms as the service evolves. If a change is material we'll take reasonable steps to let you know, for example a notice on the site, before it takes effect. Continuing to use Nooklet after that means you accept the updated terms.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and disputes belong to the courts there, without limiting any consumer rights you have where you live. If part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
